EuroMed Conference Proceedings 2006 – 2024
First held at Nicosia, Cyprus, in 2006, EuroMed was originally conceived as a dedicated conference for the community of researchers, professionals, and site managers interested in recording, understanding, and preserving cultural heritage in the southeastern European and Mediterranean region, but it rapidly attracted delegates from around the world.
The ongoing success of EuroMed has refocused our objectives to take a more global perspective to support our community and the changing needs of cultural heritage, spawning a sister conference specifically dedicated to Pan-Hellenic digital cultural heritage held in Greece in the intervening year.

This book constitutes the revised selected papers of the 10th International Conference on Euro-Mediterranean Conference, EuroMed 2024, held in Limassol, Cyprus, during December 2–4, 2024.
The 27 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 67 submissions. EuroMed 2024 provided an inclusive environment for interdisciplinary dialogue addressing the contemporary challenges facing cultural heritage — ranging from climate change and conflict to rapid technological and societal transformation.

Digital Heritage. Progress in Cultural Heritage: Documentation, Preservation, and Protection
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Progress in Cultural Heritage Preservation, EuroMed 2012, held in Lemessos, Cyprus, November 8-13, 2010.
The focal point of this conference was digital heritage, which all of us involved in the documentation of cultural heritage continually strive to implement. The excellent selection of papers published in the proceedings reflects in the best possible way the benefits of exploiting modern technological advances for the restoration, preservation and e-documentation of any kind of cultural heritage. Above all, we should always bear in mind that what we do now may be used by people in another century to repair, rebuild or conserve the buildings, monuments, artefacts and landscapes that seem important. Recent events like earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, fires and insurrections show that we can never be too prepared for damage to, and loss of, the physical and non-tangible elements of our past and, in general, our cultural heritage. To reach this ambitious goal, the topics covered included experiences in the use of innovative recording technologies and methods, and how to take best advantage of the results obtained to build up new instruments and improved methodologies for documenting in multimedia formats, archiving in digital libraries and managing cultural heritage. Technological advances are very often reported in detail in specialised fora. This volume of proceedings establishes bridges of communication and channels of cooperation between the various disciplines involved in cultural heritage preservation.

These books constitute the refereed proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Progress in Cultural Heritage Preservation, EuroMed 2008, held in Limassol, Cyprus, 20–25 October 2008 as part of VSMM 2008 the 14th International Conference on Virtual Systems and Multimedia.
These conference proceedings contain a selection of papers that focus on multi-disciplinary research involving both Cultural Heritage Informatics and the use of technology for initial data-capture and digitisation, information data-processing, reconstruction, modelling, visualisation, documentation and archiving, as well as visualisation of results and dissemination to the scientific and cultural-heritage communities and to the public.
The contributions in these proceedings will definitely assist all experts involved in Cultural Digital Heritage in restoring, renovating, protecting, documenting, archiving and monitoring history and prehistory, to secure this information for years to come. It is clear that a worldwide collaboration in this area will help make the past accessible to the present and the future.
Cultural Heritage is being transformed by the nature of digital representation of culture in which production, documentation, and distribution of an artefact are one and the same. Understanding and defining digital cultural heritage has implications for documentation practices and the experience of cultural institutions.

EuroMed Conferences focus on the applications of Information and Communication Technology to Cultural Heritage and Archaeology. In particular, special attention is paid to computer visualisation technologies and 30 modelling, which have an outstanding importance in the explanation and communication of heritage to a broad audience of visitors. The variety of themes presented are of equal importance, such as the documentation of heritage, the foundation of preservation and specific technologies, such as mobile computing and 3D data capture and processing. During its life, EuroMed has shared its goals EPOCH, the European Network of Excellence on ICT applications to Cultural Heritage (www.epoch-net.org), and naturally became the venue for hosting the reports of the Network’s activity. Since 2004, EPOCH has become the primary supporter of VAST, which also hosts the Eurographics Workshop on Graphics and Cultural Heritage since 2003. Eurographics also became the publisher of the “full” papers proceedings. In the 2006 edition, other organisations joined in this effort.
