Cypriot Picrolite Idol

A stylised female idol made of light green, polished picrolite. The figure is shown seated with bent legs. The body is tall and cruciform, with short outstretched arms. It has a tall neck with a drilled hole at the centre, and a flat, rounded vertical head. The back is flat. The right arm is missing, and the right side is chipped.
The idol was excavated by the Swedish Cyprus Expedition in 1929 at Ayia Irini in the Sanctuary, square N9, level 90.3. It has been part of the collection of the Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Sweden (Inv. No. A.I. 2804) since 1930.
