Cypriot Faience Amulet
Cypro-Archaic II (600-475 BC). Height 2cm, width 1cm, thickness 0.7cm
A small amulet depicting Bes seated with legs widely apart. He wears a crown adorned with three uraei (rearing cobras). It is made of semi-lustrous light blue faience.
The amulet was excavated by the Swedish Cyprus Expedition in 1929 at Marion, from a chamber in Tomb 50. It has been part of the collection of the Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Sweden (Inv. No.: M. 050:016b) since 1931.
