Cypriot Red Lustrous (Wheelmade) Vessel
Late Cypriot II (1450-1200 BC). Length 27.7cm, diameter 5.2cm.
A long, cylindrical vessel shaped like an arm. One end is formed as a hand, with the fingers holding a small cup. Three ridges encircle the base of the hand. Made of hard reddish clay and finished with a red, lustrous slip..
The vessel was excavated by the Swedish Cyprus Expedition in 1929 at Ayios Iakovos in the Bronze Age Sanctuary. It has been part of the collection of the Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Sweden (Inv. No. A.J. B.A.S. 058) since 1930.
