Cypriot Stetatite Scarab
Cypro-Archiac I–II (700–475 BC). Length 1.7cm
A small scarab of black stetatite (soapstone), with an incised base, classified as type 1.
The scarab was excavated by the Swedish Cyprus Expedition in 1929 at Ayia Irini in the Sanctuary, square P9, level 93.5. It has been part of the collection of the Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Sweden (Inv. No. A.I. 2291) since 1930.
