Cypriot Bichrome III Earthenware Bowl
Cypro-Geometric III (850-700 BC). Height 6cm. Diameter 10cm.
A bowl with a shallow body set on a ring base and a gently curved profile. The rim is raised and slightly splaying, with two horizontal handles attached to the body. Made of buff clay with a buff slip. Bichrome encircling lines decorate both the exterior and interior. The handles are painted black.
The bowl was excavated by the Swedish Cyprus Expedition in 1930 at Styili, from the floor of Tomb 17. It has been part of the collection of the Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Sweden (Inv. No.: St. 017:025) since 1931.
