Cypriot Terracotta Figurine
Cypro-Geometric I (1050-950 BC). Height 8cm
A figurine with a bell-shaped body and protruding breasts, with both arms raised. The head is covered by a ram’s mask. The front of the body is decorated with crossed lines filled with zigzag patterns, while the back features lattice designs. Short lines appear on the ram’s head, and encircling lines decorate the breasts.
The figurine was excavated by the Swedish Cyprus Expedition in 1927 at Lapithos, from the filling in Tomb 419. It has been part of the collection of the Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Sweden (Inv. No.: L. 419:001) since 1931.
