BabylonJS Viewer – DOM usage

Cipro-Archaic I. (700-600 BC). Height 13cm. Diameter base 5.2cm

Small juglet with a flat base and a slightly depressed body. It has a wide, pinched mouth and a flat handle running from the rim to the upper body. Made of hard, light buff clay with a semi-lustrous light buff slip, and decorated in matte lilac and dark brown paint. On each side of the body is a flying bird, outlined in brown, with wings filled in lilac and a hatched body also in lilac. A tree motif appears on the front, with the branch in lilac and the rest in brown. Additional details include a brown line encircling the base of the neck, a brown “eye” motif on either side of the mouth, and a brown line around the rim. The handle is decorated with horizontal lilac and brown lines, while its side is painted brown.

The juglet was excavated by the Swedish Cyprus Expedition in 1930 at Amathus from level 40, stratum 1 of a chamber in Tomb 7. It has been part of the Cyprus collection of the Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Sweden (Inv. No.: A. 009:120) since 1930.
