Cypriot Steatite Scarab

Length 1.8cm

A small scarab of white stetatite (soapstone) with double elytra lines. Incised on the base is a depiction of an archer shooting a lion.

The scarab was excavated by the Swedish Cyprus Expedition in 1930 at Amathus. It has been part of the collection of the Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Sweden (Inv. No. A. 007:258) since 1930.
