Handover of the Online Platform #eFikardou !

Yesterday, on the 14th of February, a momentous occasion unfolded as the UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage officially handed over the online platform e-Fikardou to the Fikardou community. The significance of this event was underscored by the presence of the Vice Rector of the Cyprus University of Technology / Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου (CUT), Dr. Nicolas Tsapatsoulis.

This #milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the concerted efforts to #preserve and showcase Fikardou’s rich #heritage. Thanks to initiatives led by the Digital Cultural Heritage lab at CUT, in #collaboration with the Fikardou’s #history is now #digitally documented for #future generations.

Highlighted as a leading case study for UNESCO’s #World#Cultural#Heritage#tentative#list, Fikardou’s inclusion underscores its importance on the global stage. The newly launched “e-fikardou” platform offers an immersive experience, featuring #digitised village models, interactive e-books, #3D tours, and mapped cycling/hiking routes.

Supported by the Textour project aimed at revitalising #cultural sites, Fikardou’s journey towards #cultural#tourism and #diplomacy is well underway.
