Cultural and Creative Tourism as a Driver for Sustainable Development
We are pleased to invite you to participate in the workshop organized by the SECreTour project in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage at Cyprus University of Technology.

Workshop Themes
The workshop invites participation and contributions on the following topics, but not limited to:
- Engagement and participation of local communities in sustainable and creative tourism experiences
- Innovative business models for cultural and creative tourism in rural and remote areas in Europe
- Creation of new job opportunities and investments linked to innovative tourism practices
- Social inclusion, promotion of local identities, valuing traditions and respects of the needs of local communities
- Greener, more digital and resilient tourism
- Economic, social and environmental sustainability
- Tourism data collection and monitoring
- Managing, communicating and valuing cultural heritage to promote peripheral destinations
- Innovative tourism services using advanced technologies and digitised cultural heritage
- Training and skills development
- Enhancing accessible tourism services for all
- Policy and governance frameworks
Who Should Participate?
This workshop is designed for:
- Professionals, researchers, and practitioners in cultural tourism innovation
- The multidisciplinary community of experts involved in sustainable, engaging and creative tourism
- Individuals interested in advancing the understanding of transition pathways for a green, digital and resilient European ecosystem of tourism
Submission Guidelines for Presentations and Posters
We welcome proposals for:
- Presentations: 15-minute talks on any of the workshop’s themes.
- Posters: Visual presentations highlighting innovative methods or research.
Please submit a word abstract and include:
- Title of the presentation or title of the poster
- Brief description (300 words max)
- Organisation profile / Presenter bio

Important Dates
- Submission Deadline: November 10th 2024
- Notification of Acceptance: November 15th 2024
- Workshop Date: 3rd of December 2024 at Cyprus University of Technology
A special publication will be available by Springer-Nature (free of charge). All authors of the accepted abstracts will be asked to submit their 10-12 pages long paper before the end of the year and the publication will be available at the beginning of the new year 2025.
