We are pleased to announce that the 20th Anniversary event EuroMed2026: the 11th International Conference on Digital Heritage, will be held online between the 2nd and 5th of November 2026.
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of EuroMed (2006-2026), the theme Advancing the Future of the Past has been chosen for this very special scientific conference.
Building on the success of the Digital Heritage Summit, the EuroMed2026 International Conference on Digital Heritage returns to its standard four-day format featuring themed presentations and expert-led panel sessions.
After careful consideration and extensive consultation with the Digital Cultural Heritage community, EuroMed2026 will be held virtually rather than in person. This decision reflects our commitment to the community while acknowledging:
- The financial implications that attending two high-profile events in a year may pose.
- the desire to continue the work of the Digital Heritage Summit as “EuroMed2026 Part II” as a focused and accessible forum for research dissemination.
- The opportunity to open the conference to a wider international audience in a time of global uncertainties.
EuroMed2026 brings together researchers, policymakers, professionals and practitioners from multiple domains to discuss the challenges and successes facing cultural heritage today. EuroMed2026 focuses on interdisciplinary research within Cultural Heritage and how research from other disciplines may benefit the Cultural Heritage domain.
The conference provides a unique forum to explore and discuss new research, innovative technological advances, and novel sustainable approaches to how we document, preserve, valorise, and use cultural heritage resources through digital technologies.
This year’s EuroMed Scientific Conference marks the 20th anniversary of the EuroMed series of conferences. First held at Nicosia, Cyprus, in 2006, EuroMed was originally conceived as a dedicated conference for the community of researchers, professionals, and site managers interested in recording, understanding, and preserving cultural heritage in the southeastern European and Mediterranean region, but it rapidly attracted delegates from around the world.
The ongoing success of EuroMed has refocused our objectives to take a more global perspective to support our community and the changing needs of cultural heritage, spawning a sister conference held in Greece in the intervening year. In May 2026, we were proud to hold our first special edition EuroMed: Digital Heritage Summit, focused on policy-making for European Cultural Heritage under the auspices of Cyprus’ Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
