Cypriot Bichrome IV Earthenware Footed Bowl
Cypro-Archaic I (700-600 BC). Height 13.5cm. Diameter 17.5cm.
A footed bowl with an angular profile, straight sides, and a cylindrical stem. A ridge runs just below the rim, and two horizontal handles are attached to the body. The interior is decorated with black and red circular lines and concentric circles. The foot and handles are painted black. The exterior features two friezes around the body, divided into panels by vertical lines. These panels contain finely detailed and symmetrical motifs, including triple ornaments, concentric semicircles and circles, dotted stars, filled circles, winged lozenges, and zigzag patterns.
The bowl was excavated by the Swedish Cyprus Expedition in 1930 at Styili, from the floor of Tomb 6. It has been part of the collection of the Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Sweden (Inv. No.: St. 006:009) since 1931.
