Cypriot Black Polished Earthenware Bowl
Early Cypriot IIIB to Middle Cypriot I (1950-1750 BC). Height 5.9cm, diameter 9.7cm
A bowl with a round base and a hemispherical body, finished with a plain rim. Made of hard, greyish clay with a lustrous black slip. The base is decorated with seven horizontal parallel lines crossed by groups of four vertical hatches. The body features two zigzag bands formed by parallel lines, along with two horizontal parallel lines encircling the middle. A band of horizontal lines also runs around the rim.
The bowl was excavated by the Swedish Cyprus Expedition in 1927 at Lapithos, from Chamber A, Tomb 306. It has been part of the collection of the Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Sweden (Inv. No.: L. 306A:005) since 1931.
