Cypriot Steatite Pestle
Late Cypriot III (1200-1050 BC). Height 6.7cm. Diameter 1.6cm, diameter of base 3.8cm
A pestle of dark grey steatite. It is conical in shape with a flat top and almost flat base. It was found with its mortar and is included in the same inventory record.
The pestle and mortar set was excavated by the Swedish Cyprus Expedition in 1930 at Enkomi, on the floor of chamber A in Tomb 19. It has been part of the collection of the Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Sweden (Inv. No.: E. 019A:001) since 1930.
