Cypro-Archiac II. (600-475 BC). Height 17cm, width 18cm, depth 11.9cm.
A rhyton shaped as a ram’s head, with a perforation through the animal’s mouth. The vessel itself is wheel-made, while the ram’s head is modelled by hand. The ears, horns, and eyes are clearly indicated.
The rhyton was excavated by the Swedish Cyprus Expedition in 1929 at Ayia Irini in the Sanctuary, square S7, level 101.1 on the wall. It has been part of the collection of the Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Sweden (Inv. No. A.I. 2654) since 1930.
