Cypriot Base-Ring Terracotta Figurine
Late Cypriot II. (1450–1200 BC). Height 18.8cm.
A standing female figurine with arms held tightly against the sides. The head is flattened, and details such as the ears, nose, eyes, and breasts are added in relief. Incised decoration appears at the waist, pubic area, and thighs. Painted bands decorate the head and the pubic area..
The figurine was excavated by the Swedish Cyprus Expedition in 1930 at Enkomi, on the floor in a chamber of Tomb 3. It has been part of the collection of the Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Sweden (Inv. No.: E. 003:184) since 1930.
