We were honored to welcome the Permanent Secretary Mr. George Papageorgiou and Mrs. Marina Tryfonidou from the Υφυπουργείο Πολιτισμού – Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus, to the Digital Cultural Heritage Research Centre MNEMOSYNE UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage.
During a productive and forward-looking meeting, we discussed shared priorities and common areas of interest in the field of digital cultural heritage, as well as our collaboration and contributions to the upcoming Digital Cultural Heritage Summit, to be held in the framework of the CY-EU Presidency of the Council of the European Union Γραμματεία Κυπριακής Προεδρίας Συμβουλίου ΕΕ 2026 – cy2026eusec.
The exchange highlighted the importance of innovation, policy, and international cooperation in safeguarding and promoting cultural heritage in the digital era. We look forward to strengthening synergies and working together towards impactful initiatives at both national and European levels.
At the conclusion of the visit, we were pleased to offer a special gift: high-quality physical replicas from the Cypriot collection of artefacts housed in Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Sweden, currently being digitised by the UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage symbolising, the meaningful connection between cultural heritage, digitisation, education, research, open and international collaboration under cultural and science diplomacy though the Embassy of Sweden to the Republic of Cyprus.
