Agros is a mountain village in the Limassol District. It is built amphitheatrically at an altitude of 1100 meters in the geographical region of Pitsilia. The population of the village, according to the latest census (2011), amounts to 806 inhabitants.
During the period of iconoclasm, forty monks left the Monastery of MegaloAgros, which was located in Kyzikos, Asia Minor, and went to Cyprus. With them they also had the icon of the Virgin Mary. Arriving in the region of Agros, they built a monastery which they named after their original monastery, that is, Monastery of MegalosAgros.
At the end of the 17th century a disease caused the death of 2/3 of the inhabitants of Cyprus. Those inhabitants of the area around the monastery were saved, abandoned their settlements and settled near the monastery. Over the years a village was created which was called Agros

Ο Αγρός είναι ορεινό χωριό της Επαρχίας Λεμεσού .Είναι κτισμένο αμφιθεατρικά σε υψόμετρο 1100 μέτρων στη γεωγραφική περιφέρεια της Πιτσιλιάς. Ο πληθυσμός του χωριού ,σύμφωνα με την τελευταία απογραφή (2011) ανέρχεται σε 806 κατοίκους.
Την περίοδο της εικονομαχίας, σαράντα μοναχοί έφυγαν από την Μονή του Μεγάλου Αγρού, που βρισκόταν στην Κύζικο της Μικράς Ασίας, και πήγαν στην Κύπρο. Μαζί τους είχαν και την εικόνα της Παναγίας. Φτάνοντας στην περιοχή του Αγρού έκτισαν ένα μοναστήρι το οποίο ονόμασαν όπως το αρχικό τους μοναστήρι, δηλαδή Μονή του Μεγάλου Αγρού.
Τέλη του 17ου αιώνα μια ασθένεια προκάλεσε τον θάνατο των 2/3 των κατοίκων της Κύπρου. Όσοι κάτοικοι της γύρω από το μοναστήρι περιοχής σώθηκαν, εγκατέλειψαν τους οικισμούς τους και εγκαταστάθηκαν κοντά στο μοναστήρι. Με τα χρόνια δημιουργήθηκε ένα χωριό το οποίο ονομάστηκε Αγρός
