Description of the event

Within the framework of the main mission of the project to establish regional collaborations and create impact, the Mnemosyne project organized the 1st Interstate Forum Greece – Cyprus which gave us the opportunity to capture the current situation and plan with the full support high level key policy makers the next steps for a successful cooperation in the area of digital cultural heritage. Important aspects focused in Cultural Tourism, Cultural Diplomacy, Climate Change, new technologies in 2D/3D digital documentation and the use and reuse of digital content for the promotion of the common past.

Involvement and Mission

The team of the Mnemosyne project focused not only in the organization of the event but also to find channels of cooperation between Greece and Cyprus so that both countries can sign a bilateral agreement of regional collaboration in Education, Research, Innovation and Development in the following subtopic areas of cultural heritage:

  1. Cultural Diplomacy
  2. Cultural Tourism
  3. Advanced Technologies in the Digitization of Cultural Heritage (EU Digital Day 2019 declaration)
  4. Climate Change and Cultural Heritage

Impact

This was the first time such regional high level political event was organized between two member states of the European Union with all the ministers, deputy ministers, permanent secretaries, key stakeholders, academia, research institutions and the multidisciplinary community for both countries. More than 350 participants were actively involved.
