Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, one of the most important air hubs in Europe, hosted the second demonstration of the tools of the ANCHISE Project (Horizon Europe), funded by the Horizon Europe programme!
With more than 70 million passengers in 2024 and a considerable volume of cargo (2.09 million tonnes in 2015), this airport is a nerve centre for international trade.
For one day, the actors involved in the fight against the illicit trafficking of cultural property gathered to test four of the six tools developed in a complementary way within the framework of this project.
Each tool had its own workshop, allowing participants to exchange directly with the developers and to experiment with the solutions on the cultural goods made available.
.
- Axel Kerep (Parcs solutions ) presented the latest developments of ArteFact, a mobile application that uses image recognition and artificial intelligence to identify stolen or looted cultural property.
- Fernando Armandes (INOV ) explained how SFS Spectroscopy works, a portable suitcase that can date an object in a few seconds in order to identify possible counterfeits.
- Nikos Peppes (ICCS – NTUA ) presented the functionalities of ART-CH, a platform for the analysis and cross-checking of strategic data on cultural property.
- Huajian Liu (Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft ) presented Kiku-Mon, a tool to monitor online sales platforms and identify stolen cultural property using keywords and photos provided by the holders
More than 40 people, representing different European countries and anti-fraud agencies (AEAs), were present.
Ultimately, these tools aim to help security forces confronted with the looting and trafficking of cultural property, by providing elements of response in a short period of time
Our sincere thanks to Mr. Gilbert Beltran, Interregional Director of Customs at Paris Airports, for making this immersion possible. Our thanks also go to the members of the consortium, the participants, as well as to the OCBC (Police nationale ) and its leader, Colonel Hubert Percie du Sert, for their valuable involvement.
