Cypro-Archaic I (700-600 BC). Height 23.3cm

A jug with a pinched mouth and a cylindrical neck. The body is globular and rests on a ring base, with a twin handle running from the rim to the shoulder. Made of buff clay. Encircling lines appear around the rim and neck. The body is decorated with large vertical concentric circles on both sides, with smaller concentric circles filling the spaces between them and appearing opposite and below the handle. The handle is painted black.

The jug was excavated by the Swedish Cyprus Expedition in 1930 at Styili, from the floor of Tomb 3. It has been part of the collection of the Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Sweden (Inv. No.: St. 003:002) since 1931.
