Cypriot Red Polished Terracotta Idol Figurine
Early Cypriot II-III. (1950-1800 BC) ypro-Geometric I-II (1050-850 BC). Height 24cm, width 8.5cm, thickness 1.2cm
A flat figurine with a rectangular body and head, knobs for breasts, and a protruding nose, made of brick clay with a red slip, decorated with incised hatched bands, facial strokes, dotted eyes, and lines indicating hair.
The idol was excavated by the Swedish Cyprus Expedition in 1927 at Lapithos, on the floor of Chamber A, Tomb 306. It has been part of the collection of the Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Sweden (Inv. No.: L. 306A:012) since 1931.
